As a graduate from the University of Saskatchewan, Cindi’s focus was on the visual arts with her BFA exhibit at the Gordon Snelgrove Gallery, U of S, Saskatoon, SK in 1983. She also showed with a group exhibit at the Mendel Art Gallery in Saskatoon. In 1984, Cindi co-founded the Modele Kite Gallery in Vancouver with Tibor Timar. She exhibited there as well as various other group shows in Vancouver and Montreal.
Cindi a graduate of the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute, has been a practicing art therapist for 25 years; initially based out of the West Side Art Therapy Centre in Vancouver and now, Wind in the Willow Studio in Penticton. As an art therapist, she has a broad range of experience and understanding working with children, teens adults, seniors, those with psychiatric or physical challenges as well as with professional caregivers through individual, group or workshop settings. The experience of being both a visual artist as well as using art as a therapeutic tool has enhanced Cindi’s ability to move more easily between the two disciplines. She also brings into her practice a background in play and movement therapies.
Cindi originally practiced Shivananda style and some Tibetan yoga. She then certified to teach yoga with Sandra Sammartino in 2004 following this with training and certification through the Dru Yoga School of Therapeutics in 2007. Cindi has about 20 years personal practice with yoga and 8 years professionally.
Cindi’s spiritual or inner life is largely informed by Buddhist philosophy, psychology and meditation. This acts as the basis for all else in her life.
